  • This position provides the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays each week, with the requirement to report to the primary NOVA Chemicals work location on Tuesdays through Thursdays. Employees can opt out of the hybrid schedule and will be expected to work Monday-Friday from the primary work location.

NOVA Chemicals, headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, is wholly-owned by Mubadala Investment Company of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

 

To further enhance our Polyethylene (PE) growth, we are looking for ways to optimize our margins and profitability across the Manufacturing East (ME) Assets. The successful candidate will be part of our Sales and Marketing organization and will work closely with Integrated Business Planning, Operations at ME, Finance, Innovation, Procurement, Logistics, Sales, Marketing and Technical Services to integrate and drive synergies across the ME assets, resulting in greatest value creation and maximizing returns. This role's primary focus spans quarterly, annual, and 5-year horizons.

 

This position is open to all NOVA Chemicals' locations in North America.

 

You Will Use Your Expertise To:

  • Lead the execution of strategies to optimize EBITDA and hourly contribution margins (HCMs), enhancing profitability across ME assets
  • Collaborate with functional teams and senior leadership to assess, adapt, and align strategies with evolving business needs
  • Develop and maintain cross-functional asset readiness plans to support shifting operational priorities
  • Align product strategy and lifecycle with business goals, improvement initiatives and market focus
  • Communicate asset and product strategies effectively across functions and through S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) and QBR (Quarterly Business Review) processes
  • Collaborate with Marketing to ensure alignment with target market strategies and external communications
  • Evaluate asset performance scenarios during market or operational disruptions to guide decision-making
  • Partner with the Product Slate Management Team (PSMT), Innovation, and Marketing to maintain a value-driven product development roadmap
  • Analyze profitability by market, product and customer to inform pricing and positioning strategies
  • Work with Finance to interpret financial trends and support performance-driven decisions
  • Monitor industry trends and evaluate their effects on asset performance, formulating strategic recommendations
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to implement improvements that drive margin and profitability growth
  • Track and report ME asset Profit & Loss performance, identifying areas for improvement
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate products, streamline offerings, and enhance operational efficiency
  • Prepare and present performance reports and improvement recommendations to functional teams and senior leadership, including during QBRs
  • Lead PTAI benchmark results analysis, interpretation and data utilization enhancements and share insights with key business stakeholders
  • Sales & Marketing continuous improvement portfolio:
    • Manage all aspects of the Sales & Marketing continuous improvement portfolio including accurate and timely results reporting, portfolio implementation/execution, prioritization, ABP embedment and cross-functional sequencing
    • Collaborate with leaders and individual contributors to ensure an evergreen pipeline of revenue and enabling continuous improvement initiatives
    • Coach initiative owners on building initiatives, creating business cases, and tracking progress in WAVE, while setting ambitious targets
    • Represent Sales & Marketing in the Business Improvement Leader Network and integrate NOVA Transformation requirements/processes into Sales & Marketing as needed

What We Are Looking For:

  • University graduate with 10+ years of industry related experience and continued professional development (3 years market-facing industry related experience preferred); OR 14+ years combination of post-secondary education, industry related experience and continued professional development
  • An MBA would be considered an asset
  • Experience with operating assets, engineering, product management, portfolio management, sales & marketing management, business management or a related field
  • An absolute commitment to Responsible Care®

  • Strong analytical and financial skills, with the ability to get into the data and derive insights
  • Effective collaborator who seamlessly integrates people, processes and ideas

  • Knowledge of polymer technology, capabilities, strengths, and weaknesses

Additional Information:

  • Relocation will NOT be considered for this position
  • Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
  • This role requires up to 10% travel
  • The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver’s license
