- This position provides the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays each week, with the requirement to report to the primary NOVA Chemicals work location on Tuesdays through Thursdays. Employees can opt out of the hybrid schedule and will be expected to work Monday-Friday from the primary work location.

NOVA Chemicals’ Technical and Corporate Procurement organization is focused and resourced on four core competencies: Strategic Procurement, Contract Management, Procurement Operations and Project Procurement. This Procurement Specialist position will actively contribute to the Corporate Procurement organization, working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to develop and execute strategic sourcing strategies meeting critical business requirements. The successful candidate will actively manage a portfolio of assigned commodities and/or projects supporting the IT Category. This role will provide opportunities to grow and develop into other spend categories.
You Will Use Your Expertise To:
- Establish and maintain effective engagement with internal stakeholders and vendors
- Work with internal stakeholders to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities
- Develop and execute Procurement strategies for assigned portfolio and projects
- Coordinate cross-functional sourcing teams to execute agreed upon procurement strategies
- Identify and execute innovative solutions to meet stakeholder requirements
- Establish vendor selection criteria and qualify vendors against established processes, including third-party contractor qualification process where appropriate
- Lead negotiations striving for maximum value and cost saving
- Facilitate execution of master agreements working cross-functionally with Legal, Tax, Intellectual Property, Risk and other functions to resolve vendor red-lines prior to contract execution
- Manage portfolio and respective vendor relationships, including performance measures, processes, results and issues resolution
- Apply procurement and negotiating tools and processes and assist others in their use
- Work collaboratively within NOVA Chemicals’ Technical and Corporate Procurement function to ensure effective leveraging of skills and workload balancing
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain Center of Excellence teams to support digitization efforts
What We Are Looking For:
- University graduate with 8+ years related experience and continued professional development OR 12+ years combination of post-secondary education and related experience with continued professional development
- A degree in Business or Supply Chain Management would be considered an asset
- A Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) designation (or equivalent international certification) would be considered an asset
- Experience with Indirect Procurement activities within large organizations with focus on procuring IT solutions
- Experience with Procure-to-Pay and contracting tools (e.g., SAP, Ariba, Icertis)
- Strategic thinking, planning and analytical skills to understand supply market dynamics, generate procurement strategies, effectively negotiate agreements and implement solutions to complex and multi-dimensional problems
- Demonstrated negotiation and contracting experience
- Demonstrated ability to drive projects through various phases from idea generation to implementation
- Ability to influence, mediate and persuade
- Effective change management and conflict management skills
- Proven ability to provide high level of customer focus and service
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
- Self-motivated, adaptable, creative, innovative, results-oriented

Additional Information:
- Relocation will NOT be considered for this position
- Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
- This role involves up to 10% travel and requires the ability to travel easily between Canada and the U.S.
- The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver’s license and be eligible to travel between Canada and the U.S.
