- This position provides the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays each week, with the requirement to report to the primary NOVA Chemicals work location on Tuesdays through Thursdays. Employees can opt out of the hybrid schedule and will be expected to work Monday-Friday from the primary work location.

NOVA Chemicals, headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, is wholly-owned by Mubadala Investment Company of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The NOVA Circular Solutions’ Buyer will play a key role in supporting NOVA Chemicals' commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and keeping plastic waste in the economy, rather than the environment. This position is responsible for planning and procuring raw materials to support production, ensuring timely availability of materials, managing supplier relationships, and improving supply chain efficiency. The Buyer will be an integral part of the early stages of developing and growing a new recycling business, leveraging NOVA's full range of capabilities to optimize operations and drive the success of NOVA Circular Solutions.
You Will Use Your Expertise To:
- Perform daily MRP (materials requirements planning) activities and place orders to purchase raw materials in a timely manner to ensure availability when required by production.
- Communicate between procurement, operations, sales, customer service, quoting, and suppliers to ensure that adequate raw material is received, and proper information is obtained.
- Navigate competing priorities and tight timelines, ensuring high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Coordinate and manage inbound raw material flows with transportation partners.
- Complete month-end activities to support cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
- Manage and maintain master data in SAP such as new supplier requests, supplier pricing information, material IDs and OLAs (outline agreements).
- Identify and prioritize issues such as delayed or missing shipments, blocked invoices, and volume or pricing discrepancies then determine and implement effective corrective actions.
- Analyze raw material inventory levels to assist in determining the appropriate balance between production needs and optimized inventory levels.
- Monitor and manage obsolete, excess, scrap and aged inventory.
What We Are Looking For:
The successful candidate will be a University graduate with 3 - 5 years related experience and continued professional development or 7 - 9 years combination of post-secondary education and related experience and continued professional development.
In addition, the successful candidate will have:
- An entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to handle ambiguous situations.
- A start-up mindset that reflects the realities of operating a recycling business
- Strong organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated proficiency in SAP, analytic abilities and decision-making skills.
- Ability to resolve conflicts, quickly understand multiple issues and address them from a total business perspective.
- The ability to work in a high energy, sometimes demanding work environment.
- The capacity to provide or collaborate with others to develop solutions to issues.
- Knowledge and passion for supply chain/logistics concepts, such as scheduling, inventory management, planning, or material requirement planning is a must.
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently.

Additional Information:
- The hours of work for this position are either Eastern Time (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM ET) or Mountain Time (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM MT), depending on your location.
- Relocation will NOT be considered for this position
- Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
- This role requires up to 10% travel and eligibility to travel easily between Canada and the U.S.
- The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver’s license
