  • This position provides the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays each week, with the requirement to report to the primary NOVA Chemicals work location on Tuesdays through Thursdays. Employees can opt out of the hybrid schedule and will be expected to work Monday-Friday from the primary work location.

We are seeking a Process Optimization & Joint Venture Engineer to join our Ethylene 3 (E3) Joint Venture team located at our Joffre Site in Central Alberta, near Red Deer. As the Process Optimization & Joint Venture Engineer in E3, you will provide process engineering support of achieving in E3’s business results. You will be part of the E3 multidisciplinary teams and work with various disciplines (Technical, Operations and Maintenance) to address unit and Joint Venture priorities.

 

You Will Use Your Expertise In:

Optimization

  • Use the E3 Optimization model to successfully run daily and troubleshoot minor technical issues
  • Determine when intervention is required to optimize ethylene production from the plant
  • Establish and maintain a successful relationship with the E3 business teams and facility operating personnel
  • Assist in business case and project modelling on behalf of the E3 PUT and IMT

 

Joint Venture

  • Complete month end reviews of utilities and co-products ensuring accuracy
  • Generate annual budgets and provide regular forecast updates
  • Oversee E3 Greenhouse Gas model and billing
  • Review monthly joint venture billings for technical accuracy
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on a broad range of business sensitive topics related to the E3 Joint Venture
  • Respond to regular and complex inquiries from E3 co-owners

 

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Applied Science or equivalent, with a minimum of 2 years of related engineering experience
  • Registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA or an equivalent Canadian engineering governing body is required
  • Knowledge of the olefins process would be considered an asset
  • Aptitude towards process optimization
  • Desire to gain business acumen gained through joint venture interactions
  • Proven abilities in using Excel and other tools to manage and analyze engineering data effectively
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams across the unit

  • Relocation will be considered for this position
  • Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
  • Work will be conducted both indoors and outdoors in all seasons
  • In order to fulfil the duties of this role, the successful candidate will be required to wear respiratory protective equipment. Candidate must successfully pass a fit test and be physically able to wear a respirator
  • The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver’s license
