We are seeking a Millwright Maintenance Technician to join one of our Manufacturing West Millwright Teams located at our Joffre Site in Central Alberta, near Red Deer. This team is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability and availability. The team provides day to day maintenance to ensure equipment meets the plant production requirements.

You Will Use Your Expertise To:

  • Adhere to and maintain compliance with all Responsible Care® standards
  • Ensure safe and effective maintenance execution of rotating mechanical equipment
  • Manage maintenance systems, including associated administration
  • Coordinate and direct the activities of others during plant and unit shutdowns
  • Establish new and continually improve existing preventative maintenance programs
  • Work effectively in a team environment that interfaces with other functions
  • Support work assignments in other units from time to time

 

What We Are Looking For:

  • A valid Alberta and Interprovincial Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Journeyperson Certificate with 5+ years post Journeyperson experience
  • Strong commitment to Responsible Care® Principles through demonstrated excellence in occupational safety, process safety and environmental stewardship
  • Proven experience in a petrochemical, refinery or gas processing plant environment
  • Experience in performing routine maintenance and repairs on the following equipment would be considered an asset: 
    • Turbo machinery
    • Blowers
    • Screw compressors
    • Centrifugal pumps
    • Fans
    • Steam turbines
    • Mechanical seals
    • Reciprocating compressors
    • Extruders
    • Conveying systems
    • Positive displacement pumps
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • Ability to work effectively in a plant maintenance environment with Maintenance, Operations and Engineering Teams
  • A working knowledge of computers with preference given to the Microsoft Office suite and SAP
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Focused attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to overall team and business goals

Additional Information:

  • Relocation will be considered for this position
  • Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
  • This role requires up to 10% travel
  • Work will be conducted both indoors and outdoors in all seasons
  • Positions will include some lifting and climbing of ladders within various levels of the units
  • Overtime and callouts are a requirement of the role due to the 24 hour per day plant operation
  • In order to fulfil the duties of this role, the successful candidate will be required to wear respiratory protective equipment. Candidate must successfully pass a fit test and be physically able to wear a respirator
  • The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver’s license
