We are seeking Mechanical Engineers to join our Static Equipment Engineering Team at our Joffre Site in Central Alberta, near Red Deer.  Reporting to the Static Equipment Engineering Team Leader, you will provide engineering support to improve the reliability, operability and maintainability of the Joffre site assets.

 

Role responsibilities may include development of short, midterm as well as long-term asset management plans, development of small projects aligned to business needs and/or engineering support for large sustaining capital projects. In addition, the role may also provide day-to-day technical support to operations, maintenance, inspections and other teams to support production.

 

You Will Use Your Expertise To:

  • Demonstrate a high level of commitment to Responsible Care activities.
  • Provide static equipment engineering, technical leadership and support to Joffre site facilities in support of production.
  • Provide Mechanical Engineering design support to various sized projects to ensure safe, reliable and competitive operation.
  • Provide reliability strategies and quality assurance expectations to ensure piping, pressure vessels and other static equipment meet or exceed performance requirements.
  • Lead and support investigations on equipment failures to determine root causes and identify actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Manage single and multi-discipline improvement projects and/or sustaining Capital projects to meet operational requirements.
  • Support NOVA Chemicals’ corporate engineering standards committees as well as site technical network teams with Mechanical Engineering expertise and experience to drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide professional authentication to engineering changes.

 

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 8+ years of engineering experience in Petrochemical, refining or similar industries
  • Registered with APEGA or an equivalent Canadian engineering governing body
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven technical leadership ability
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience working with SAP will be considered an asset

Additional Information:

  • Relocation will be considered for this position
  • Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
  • This role requires up to 10% travel
  • In order to fulfil the duties of this role, the successful candidate will be required to wear respiratory protective equipment. Candidate must successfully pass a fit test and be physically able to wear a respirator
  • The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver’s license
