We are seeking an Instrumentation Maintenance Technician to join our Instrumentation & Electrical Team located at our Joffre Site in Central Alberta, near Red Deer.  This team is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability and availability. The team provides day to day maintenance support to ensure equipment meets the demanding production levels of the plant.

 

You Will Use your Expertise To:

  • Adhere to and maintain compliance with all Responsible Care® Standards
  • Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on instrument equipment in a production environment
  • Execute repairs to plant equipment in a timely manner
  • Perform instrument installations in accordance with standard practices and engineering standards
  • Maintain equipment records using computer maintenance management systems
  • Coordinate and direct the activities of others during plant and unit shutdowns
  • Establish new and continually improve existing preventative maintenance programs
  • Work effectively in a multi-discipline team environment
  • Support work assignments in other units as needed

 

What We Are Looking For:

  • A valid Alberta Instrumentation Journeyperson Certificate is required; a minimum of 5 years of post-Journeyperson experience would be considered an asset 
  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required
  • Experience working in a petrochemical or gas plant maintenance environment would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge and experience with various level, pressure and temperature instrumentation would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge and experience rebuilding Fisher, ValTek and other various control valves would be considered an asset
  • Experience working with Prognost and Bentley Nevada vibration systems would be considered an asset
  • Experience working with Triconex, FSC, DCS and PLC systems would be considered an asset
  • Knowledgeable of gas detection systems would be considered an asset
  • Experience working with gas chromatograph and mass spectrometer analyzers would be considered an asset
  • Experience working with AMS and Valve diagnostic software would be considered an asset
  • Strong commitment to Responsible Care® Principles through excellence in occupational safety, process safety and environmental stewardship
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems, provide recommendations and implement short- and long-term solutions
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplined Operations, Engineering, Trades and Planning teams
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, independently or in a team setting
  • Advanced computer skills, including SAP and MS Office suite

Additional Information:

  • Relocation will be considered for this position
  • Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
  • This role requires up to 10% travel
  • Work will be conducted both indoors and outdoors in all seasons
  • Positions will include some lifting and climbing of ladders within various levels of the units
  • Overtime and callouts are a requirement of the role due to the 24 hour per day plant operation
  • In order to fulfil the duties of this role, the successful candidate will be required to wear respiratory protective equipment. Candidate must successfully pass a fit test and be physically able to wear a respirator
  • The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver’s license
