- This position provides the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays each week, with the requirement to report to the primary NOVA Chemicals work location on Tuesdays through Thursdays. Employees can opt out of the hybrid schedule and will be expected to work Monday-Friday from the primary work location.

NOVA Chemicals, headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, is wholly-owned by Mubadala Investment Company of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
We are seeking a Technical Procurement Services Team Leader who will be instrumental in advancing NOVA’s technical services strategies that will maximize long-term value for our polyethylene (PE) products.
Reporting to the Leader, Strategic Procurement – Manufacturing, Innovation and Corporate, this role will lead a team of high performing Procurement Specialists in the development and execution of short to long-term acquisition strategies that lead to increased commercial value considering the total cost of ownership across NOVA Chemicals.
You Will Use Your Expertise To:
- Lead a Procurement team that supports technical services categories that impact the full enterprise
- Partner with key stakeholders to ensure business requirements are met or exceeded
- Support the procurement team in building strong connections across NOVA’s business and ensuring their work aligns with our broader corporate goals
- Identify opportunities for category savings that maximize profitability and efficiency
- Provide direct leadership to accelerate the Strategic Procurement team’s capabilities with a purposeful focus to support individual development and continuous performance improvement
- Ensure seamless integration of procurement policies and procedures in the execution of purchasing and contracting strategies
- Monitor and measure effectiveness against established performance metrics
- Facilitate the implementation of change management within the procurement organization through visible leadership and active engagement with team members and stakeholders
- Partner with the Leader, Strategic Procurement to shape workforce planning strategies in accordance with business requirements, while supporting employees to ensure they receive appropriate development opportunities to satisfy job performance criteria and department succession planning
- Review recommendation for award documentation to ensure all employee commitments are accurately reflected and comply with the company’s established delegations of authority contained in policy and procedures
- Support the team in contract negotiations and help to resolve any roadblocks
- Manage and maintain strong supplier relationships with a focus on superior safety and Responsible Care performance
- As part of the Technical and Corporate Procurement Leadership Team, work collaboratively to seek cross functional synergies and advance the goals of the Technical & Corporate Procurement (TCP) organization
What We Are Looking For:
- A University degree and/or Professional Designation with 10+ years of related experience and a progressive record of professional development OR 12+ years combination of post-secondary education and related experience
- SCMP (Supply Chain Management Professional) or CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) designation is an asset
- Exceptional business acumen with a track record of developing and executing continuous improvement strategies in a manufacturing environment
- Proven experience drafting contract management and vendor agreements
- A collaborative leader with strong conflict resolution skills in cross-functional, geographically dispersed teams
- Strategic thinker who can proactively identify, understand, and act upon the impact of competitive activities on the business
- Exceptional change management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear reports, contracts, and correspondence under multiple deadlines and changing business requirements while maintaining composure in high pressure situations
- Strong leadership presence with negotiation and contract management experience
- Experience managing the people practices and programs required of leaders within the organization such as performance management, compensation planning, succession planning, development planning, recruitment, etc.
- Familiarity with best practice procurement processes, tools, and spend data analysis
- Skilled in leading high-performing teams and driving results
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting capabilities
- Proficiency in Purchase-to-pay tools (e.g., SAP MM, Ariba)

Additional Information:
- Relocation will be considered to the nearest geographical NOVA Chemicals' location for this position
- Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
- This role requires up to 20% travel and be eligible to travel easily between Canada and the U.S.
- The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver’s license
- Geismar Site Only: The position will require a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC®) through the Transportation Security Administration.
