We are seeking a Process Engineer to provide technical leadership and daily support for our Geismar facility in Geismar, Louisiana. Reporting to the Supervisor, Process Engineering, this role provides an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by delivering engineering expertise and daily technical support to plant operations, all while driving and upholding operational excellence.

 

You Will Use Your Expertise To:

  • Provide support during plant turnarounds and minor outages, including scope determination, equipment inspections, facility change management, and plant start-ups.
  • Monitor daily plant operations and performance to identify and implement opportunities to optimize existing plant capabilities.
  • Develop process designs, conduct economic analyses and deliver initial front-end engineering for process improvements, process optimizations, and capital projects.
  • Act as a Technical Authority in PHA and Risk-Based Inspection revalidations, ensuring safety and reliability.
  • Execute pre-startup safety reviews, hazard analyses, and technical evaluations as part of the Facility Change Management process.
  • Utilize advanced tools like Aspen Plus and Aspen Simulation Workbook to optimize plant operations.
  • Apply distributed control systems (TDC3000 and Experion) and data historians to develop tools for process monitoring and problem-solving.
  • Collect data in the field, perform confined space entries as needed, and partner with plant personnel to ensure seamless operations.
  • Communicate effectively across teams and functions to align on technical issues, resolve conflicts, and drive shared success.

 

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering with 5-7 years of experience in chemical processing, preferably in an olefins manufacturing environment (e.g., ethane-to-ethylene cracking).
  • Proficiency in Aspen Plus, Aspen EDR, and Aspen Simulation Workbook.
  • Experience with distributed control systems (TDC3000, Experion) and process data historians.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong multitasking, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • A self-starter mindset and commitment to excellence.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to build alignment and resolve conflicts in cross-discipline teams.

Additional Information:

  • Relocation will be considered for this position
  • Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
  • Work will be conducted both indoors and outdoors in all seasons
  • Positions will include some lifting and climbing of ladders within various levels of the units
  • Callouts are a requirement of the role due to the 24 hour per day plant operation
  • In order to fulfil the duties of this role, the successful candidate will be required to wear respiratory protective equipment. Candidate must successfully pass a fit test and be physically able to wear a respirator
  • The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver’s license
  • The position will require a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC®) through the Transportation Security Administration.
