The Coordinator, Major Maintenance and Capital, based at our Geismar Site in Geismar, Louisiana, plays a pivotal role in driving the successful planning and execution of major maintenance and capital projects. This position is responsible for leading a high-performing team, aligning cross-functional stakeholders, and ensuring that all phases of project development from scope definition to commissioning are executed safely, efficiently, and within budget. Leveraging leadership, technical expertise, and strategic planning skills, this role helps shape and deliver a portfolio of projects that support operational excellence and long-term asset reliability.

 

You Will Use Your Expertise To:

  • Lead and develop members of the Major Maintenance and Construction Execution team by providing effective guidance, coordination, mentorship, and leadership through all phases of work planning and execution.
  • Develop, maintain, and coordinate the execution of annual Major Maintenance portfolio inclusive of cost estimates, resource requirements, and execution durations.
  • Coordinate with Site Project Manager on upcoming Capital Projects to ensure long lead time items are identified and procured, execution resources are secured, and execution through commissioning is planned and carried out within the constraints of the project (schedule, scope, cost, etc.).
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of Major Maintenance and Capital Projects by participating in scope of work development, work package reviews, site walkdowns, estimating, and execution planning.
  • Ensure that work packages and schedules are effectively integrated into the site’s routine maintenance schedule, and coordinate the development, preparation, and execution on all Major Maintenance and Capital Project activities.
  • Implement planning, scheduling, and execution plans to meet the objectives, execution strategies, and risk mitigation requirements. Coordinate with the execution teams, discipline leads, subcontractors, and business unit owners for their inputs to the execution strategies and schedules.
  • Develop and implement daily and long-term planning and scheduling resource loading plans. Coordinate filling the resource plans using site resources, manpower providers, and contractor providers.
  • Manage the performance of the work execution teams. Coordinate schedule review meetings. Prepare, update, and perform critical path schedule analysis, analyze schedule impacts and changes, develop recovery plans, and escalate issues as required.
  • Establish and maintain alignment and frequent communication with key stakeholders. Deliver regular progress reports and analysis with proposed recommendations.
  • Conduct cost analyses for major maintenance and capital job plans, ensuring alignment with budget expectations. Escalate any deviations from standard.
  • Coordinate and supervise the execution, commissioning, QA/QC, and acceptance testing of all work performed within the Major Maintenance and Capital Project portfolios.

 

What We Are Looking For: 

2-year technical school diploma with 10+ years of related maintenance or construction experience OR 12+ years combination of post-secondary technical education and maintenance or construction experience

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification would be considered an asset
  • Experience in data analysis for maintenance work efficiency, planning, scheduling and preventative maintenance KPIs.
  • Experience in cost analysis for job plans and budgetary expectations for maintenance.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to apply critical thinking to resolve stakeholder concerns and deliver mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Proven capability to work to broadly defined objectives, overcoming barriers.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution, facilitation, and strategic problem-solving.
  • Proven leadership in guiding high-performing, self-managed teams through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve efficiencies against business goals.
  • Strong initiative and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

Additional Information:

  • Relocation will be considered for this position
  • Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
  • This role requires up to 10% travel
  • Work will be conducted both indoors and outdoors in all seasons
  • Positions will include some lifting and climbing of ladders within various levels of the units
  • Callouts are a requirement of the role due to the 24 hour per day plant operation
  • In order to fulfil the duties of this role, the successful candidate will be required to wear respiratory protective equipment. Candidate must successfully pass a fit test and be physically able to wear a respirator
  • The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver’s license
  • The position will require a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC®) through the Transportation Security Administration.
