We are seeking a Turnaround Scheduler to join our Turnaround Team to support Manufacturing East (ME) regional scheduling. This team executes turnaround events with varying levels of cost and complexity. In this position you will be responsible for leading the development of detailed event schedules and integration with all Turnaround, Engineering Services, Maintenance and Operational activities.

 

The Turnaround Scheduler will have accountability to ensure Primavera is implemented and employed so that earned value tools and work interdependencies can be monitored, tracked and displayed. This position is accountable for detailed scheduling of turnaround activities, and to define the overall scheduling philosophy and process for gathering and integrating all activities in the turnaround schedule based on turnaround complexity.

 

You Will Use Your Expertise To:

  • Schedule and report on the plan-to-plan (a plan to complete detailed planning and scheduling of each scope), status and estimated completion dates.
  • Write scheduling basis document to outline assumptions, schedule quality requirements, etc.
  • Lead and participate in constructability reviews for critical path scopes, densely populated / complex work areas, major project schedule integration, etc.
  • Be accountable for scheduling and coding the events to align with the overall turnaround execution strategy.
  • Lead the development of an integrated Primavera schedule that aligns Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Engineering and Sustaining and Growth Capital projects throughout the entire turnaround lifecycle.
  • Work with Event Managers to define and staff a successful scheduling team.
  • Identify training needs to support scheduling, development, reporting and tracking.
  • Develop reporting and analysis methods such as but not limited to; earned value, progress vs. planned, critical path reporting methodology and cost performance index.
  • Ensure the IT infrastructure is in place to support the scheduling function during critical phases of execution.
  • Maintain reporting systems for ensuring that documentation is accurate and timely.
  • Collaborate with planners in the development of work order task lists to ensure high standard of SAP data integrity (including the WBS/AFE structure), in the correct structure, to facilitate automated integration with Primavera.
  • Work closely with Responsible Care®, Maintenance, Operations, Process and Engineering personnel in the development of turnaround priorities, resolve execution issues and provide leadership in troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Lead schedule optimization activities with the turnaround planning and execution leads.
  • Own the scheduling procedure, lessons learned and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Event Managers, Planning and Execution Leads, Event Schedulers, as well as NOVA employees and contractors, to ensure seamless coordination and successful event execution.

 

What We Are Looking For:

  • 2 Year Technical school diploma, or (Red Seal) Journeyperson certificate, with 10+ years of related experience, OR 12+ years combination of post-secondary technical education and related experience, OR 12+ years of progressive experience in a manufacturing discipline or equivalent technology environment.
  • Strong commitment to Responsible Care® Principles through demonstrated excellence in occupational safety, process safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Expert level proficiency in industry standard software (SAP, Primavera, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.).
  • Proven capacity to create and maintain complex schedules.
  • Strong troubleshooting, conflict management, leadership and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to mentor and support developing team members while serving as the primary point of contact for contract personnel.
  • Demonstrated initiative and organizational skills, mechanical aptitude, technical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and independently with Maintenance, Construction, Operations and Engineering Teams.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Focused attention to detail with excellent documentation skills.

Additional Information:

  • Relocation will be considered for this position
  • Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
  • This role requires up to 10% travel
  • Work will be conducted both indoors and outdoors in all seasons
  • Positions will include some lifting and climbing of ladders within various levels of the units
  • Overtime and callouts are a requirement of the role due to the 24 hour per day plant operation
  • The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver’s license
