Join our team as a key contributor in driving successful turnaround operations as a Turnaround Block Coordinator. In this role, you will lead the execution of turnaround activities within a designated block, ensuring alignment with strategic plans, safety standards, and operational excellence. You’ll collaborate closely with contractors and internal teams to drive performance, resolve issues, and implement continuous improvement initiatives. This is a high-impact role ideal for someone with strong leadership, planning, and facilitation skills who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments.

 

You Will Use Your Expertise To:

  • Develop and implement execution strategy
  • Ensure planning and scheduling align with execution strategy​
  • Work directly with the awarded contractor to ensure smooth execution transition and accountability​
  • Resolve any performance, conflict or personnel issues – either in NOVA or contract organizations​
  • Escalate execution issues that are impacting the overall success of the Turnaround ​
  • Implement learnings from past turnarounds and track new learnings as they occur
  • Provide direction on how work will be divided up to meet turnaround expectations within the assigned block
  • Monitor and audit overall progress of all work in a specific block and ensure work is being carried out safely and in an environmentally responsible manner
  • Work with other Block Coordinators to adjust activities, resources, and approaches to focus on key priorities
  • Monitor required updates of work progress and initiate corrective actions to maintain overall schedule by adjusting or moving resources and equipment within responsible area.  Request additional resources or reductions as required
  • Review and provide input into service supplier contracts to ensure they’re aligned to our execution strategy
  • On-board temporary block coordinators and share execution vision for turnaround
  • Lead and support turnaround improvement initiatives that will support the overall success of the Turnaround

 

What We Are Looking For:

  • 2-year technical school diploma with 12+ years of related experience OR 14+ years combination of post-secondary technical education and related experience OR 14+ years of progressive experience in a manufacturing discipline or equivalent technology environment
  • Related turnaround experience

  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of petrochemical manufacturing operations
  • Familiar with applicable Safety Codes, Acts and Regulations
  • Attention to detail and ability to take initiative
  • Effective communication and influencing skills

  • Computer proficiency in SAP and MS office applications
  • Ability to interpret and action a Primavera schedule and labour allocations
  • Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to recognize own limitations and seek assistance from others
  • Lead and facilitate meetings of people to drive Turnaround performance

Additional Information:

  • Relocation will be considered for this position
  • Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
  • This role requires up to 10% travel
  • Work will be conducted both indoors and outdoors in all seasons
  • Positions will include some lifting and climbing of ladders within various levels of the units
  • Overtime and callouts are a requirement of the role due to the 24 hour per day plant operation
  • In order to fulfil the duties of this role, the successful candidate will be required to wear respiratory protective equipment. Candidate must successfully pass a fit test and be physically able to wear a respirator
  • The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver’s license
