The Scheduler position is responsible for developing, overseeing, and updating the schedule for Major Maintenance activities at NOVA Chemicals Manufacturing East facilities.

 

You Will Use Your Expertise To:

  • Demonstrate a willingness to initiate and lead processes in both individual and team environments
  • Develop/publish daily, weekly, monthly, and long-term execution schedules utilizing 100% of resources
  • Sequence the execution of the Capital Construction and Major Maintenance portfolio in a leveled manner
  • Ensure standards, processes and procedures are followed to produce effective planning and scheduling strategies that align with Manufacturing East business plans and priorities
  • Identify and act on opportunities for improvement of maintenance planning and scheduling processes
  • Utilize and exploit SAP and Primavera software tools to enhance planning and scheduling efficiencies
  • Develop, review, and analyze Team KPIs and lead the development and implementation of corrective actions when performance targets are not met
  • Develop and lead constructability reviews with multi-discipline coordination
  • Responsible for coordinating and overseeing the in-year portfolio, ensuring project scopes and construction timelines are clearly defined, developed, and maintained throughout the Annual Business Planning (ABP) cycle
  • Coordinate and facilitate monthly portfolio meetings to ensure all project scopes, operational readiness criteria, and execution start dates are reviewed, updated, and aligned with stakeholders

 

What We Are Looking For:

2-year technical school diploma with 10+ years of related experience OR 12+ years combination of post-secondary technical education and related experience OR 12+ years of progressive experience in a manufacturing discipline or equivalent technology environment

  • Related experience in a Petrochemical Plant setting
  • A demonstrated commitment to Responsible Care® combined with a strong understanding of NOVA Chemicals safety procedures and external regulations
  • Strong Planning and Scheduling skills
  • Strong Organizational and Leadership skills. Ability to delegate tasks, establish targets, review progress, confirm actions taken, and obtain feedback
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain focus
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, good written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated time management skills and the ability to set and manage individual and team priorities
  • Proficient knowledge of SAP, Primavera, and MS Office products is essential and Smart Plant Foundation (SPF) is an asset

Additional Information:

  • Relocation will be considered for this position
  • Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
  • Work will be conducted both indoors and outdoors in all seasons
  • Positions will include some lifting and climbing of ladders within various levels of the units
  • Overtime and callouts are a requirement of the role due to the 24 hour per day plant operation
  • In order to fulfil the duties of this role, the successful candidate will be required to wear respiratory protective equipment. Candidate must successfully pass a fit test and be physically able to wear a respirator
  • The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver’s license
