Expected Compensation Range: $87,370 - $105,672 annually
Other Compensation: This position may be eligible for discretionary variable compensation. This position may also be eligible for shift premium.

The primary focus of the Operations Technician is to safely and reliably operate and maintain the facility on a continuous basis. The successful candidate will be expected to progress through the Process Operations progression program and achieve all required certifications in accordance with established requirements.
You Will Use Your Expertise To:
- Perform all duties in accordance with the job requirements of the assigned area
- Operate the unit safely, efficiently, and cost‑effectively, with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot operating issues
- Adhere to all NOVA Chemicals safe work practices, policies, and procedures at all times
- Monitor and operate process systems and associated equipment through DCS
- Review weekly schedules and Detailed Operating Instructions (DOIs) to support the preparation of safe work permits for routine maintenance
- Maintain effective communication with the shift team and review logs to stay informed of unit activities
- Prepare equipment for maintenance and issue required Safe Work Permits
- Communicate schedule changes and operational impacts in a timely manner
- Monitor safety conditions, identify concerns, and take appropriate action to resolve issues
- Ensure procedures are followed and identify required updates for submission to the Operations Area Coordinator
- Complete accurate Operations Log entries for operational and maintenance activities
- Maintain high housekeeping standards and proactively identify resource needs to support them
- Progress through required training and development to achieve full proficiency in unit operations
What We Are Looking For:
- The successful candidate will have a Chemical Production & Power Engineering Technology (CPET) program or equivalent technical school diploma with a minimum 4th Class Operating Engineer certification (TSSA).
- TSSA Operating Engineer certification requirements for the Manufacturing East production units range from 4th to 2nd Class. The successful candidate will be required to obtain a 3rd Class TSSA Operating Engineer certification within 36 months of their start date, in accordance with the unit progression guidelines.

Additional Information:
- Relocation will NOT be considered for this position
- Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
- This position will work on a seven (7) day (including weekends and holidays), twelve (12) hour rotating days/nights schedule
- Work will be conducted both indoors and outdoors in all seasons
- Duties will include standing, walking, bending, stooping and squatting for long periods of time as well as some lifting and some climbing of ladders within various levels of the units.
- Overtime and callouts are a requirement of the role due to the 24 hour per day plant operation
- In order to fulfil the duties of this role, the successful candidate will be required to wear respiratory protective equipment. Candidate must successfully pass a fit test and be physically able to wear a respirator
- The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver’s license
