As part of the Manufacturing East (ME) Inspection Team within ME Static Equipment, the successful candidate will be responsible for the continued integrity of process/mechanical equipment in the assigned unit through adherence to the NOVA Chemicals’ inspection programs.

 

You Will Use Your Expertise To:

  • Manage Unit Inspection compliance
  • Manage Inspection records within the corporate database
  • Complete regular inspections in the field
  • Develop repair scopes and inspection test plans (ITP) for repair work
  • Report inspection findings and work closely with technical staff to develop recommendations
  • Administer the NOVA ME Owner-User Programs
  • Coordinate inspection lifecycle activities such as inspection scoping and risk-based inspections (RBI) with cross-functional teams
  • Participate as a member of the Inspection Team during Turnarounds
  • Co-coordinate the work of Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) service providers

 

What We Are Looking For:

Technical school diploma and API 510 certification with 6+ years of related experience in a petrochemical/refinery plant OR 8+ years combination of post-secondary technical education and API 510 certification with related experience in a petrochemical/refinery plant

  • Certification in API 510
  • Prior inspection related experience
  • Applied knowledge of Codes, Standards, and Regulations such as CSA, ASME, API, and TSSA regulations
  • Certification in API 570 & 653 is an asset
  • Knowledge and experience of NDE techniques: Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle and Ultrasonic Thickness Testing. Certification is an asset.
  • Familiar with plant equipment & piping systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, planning & organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written & verbal
  • Knowledge and experience with computer applications: MS Excel, Word, Access
  • Demonstrated commitment to Responsible Care®

Location:

The NOVA Chemicals Manufacturing East Sites are located near Sarnia, Ontario. The Sarnia Sites focus on the production of ethylene and polyethylene and is recognized as a cornerstone of Ontario’s petrochemical industry.  Sarnia is situated on the south shore of Lake Huron at the headwaters of the St. Clair River, and just an hour from Detroit, Michigan, United States. 

 

Additional Information:

  • Relocation will be considered for this position
  • Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
  • This role requires up to 10% travel
  • Work will be conducted both indoors and outdoors in all seasons
  • Position will include climbing of ladders within various levels of the units
  • Overtime and callouts are a requirement of the role due to the 24 hour per day plant operation
  • In order to fulfil the duties of this role, the successful candidate will be required to wear respiratory protective equipment. Candidate must successfully pass a fit test and be physically able to wear a respirator
  • The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver’s license
