- This position provides the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays each week, with the requirement to report to the primary NOVA Chemicals work location on Tuesdays through Thursdays. Employees can opt out of the hybrid schedule and will be expected to work Monday-Friday from the primary work location.

As part of the Instrument and Electrical Engineering Team, the Electrical Reliability Engineer role directly supports plant reliability functions for all facilities in Manufacturing East. The primary objective of the role is to deliver equipment reliability for leading performance in plant uptime, quality, and maintenance. This will include reliability program development, technical support and the application of Manufacturing & Corporate Reliability Standards, Procedures and Best Practices.
You Will Use Your Expertise To:
- Align reliability functions to related plant processes: Technical/Engineering Workflow including Facility Change Management, Capital Project Support including Project Development and Implementation and Maintenance Work Management
- Collaborate with the Reliability Analyst to execute strategic systems such as Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Reliability Failure Analysis, Spares Analysis, etc.
- Identify and resolve equipment reliability “bad actors”
- Utilize reliability processes to measure, analyze, improve, and support approved projects including development and implementation of maintenance plans
- Communicate equipment priorities, including status, value, and overall recommendations
- Assess new projects to ensure reliability and maintenance design aspects are represented
- Develop and review work scope for Unit Outages and Turnaround Plant Support
- Provide day-to-day support to Operations and Maintenance Teams for Electrical equipment
- Provide technical support and guidance for critical site issues
- Provide technical approval for new or modified equipment specifications
- Support a variety of programs and initiatives to drive toward achieving World Class Reliability
- Collaborate with the Center of Excellence Electrical Team to capture and apply learnings and enhance discipline capabilities
What We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of related engineering experience with a Professional Engineering License (P.Eng.) with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) or equivalent
- Demonstrated commitment to Responsible Care®
- Experience in a petrochemical manufacturing facility
- Working knowledge of SAP Plant Maintenance module, SmartPlant, Industry Electrical Codes and Standards
- Ability to work with limited supervision while managing multiple projects and tasks in a dynamic work environment with Operations, Maintenance, Project Management and Technical teams
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to present or explain information using a variety of formal presentation tools and techniques

Additional Information:
- Relocation will be considered for this position
- Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
- This role requires up to 10% travel
- Positions will include some lifting and climbing of ladders within various levels of the units
- Overtime and callouts are a requirement of the role due to the 24 hour per day plant operation
- In order to fulfil the duties of this role, the successful candidate will be required to wear respiratory protective equipment. Candidate must successfully pass a fit test and be physically able to wear a respirator
- The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver’s license
