  • This position provides the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays each week, with the requirement to report to the primary NOVA Chemicals work location on Tuesdays through Thursdays. Employees can opt out of the hybrid schedule and will be expected to work Monday-Friday from the primary work location.

We're looking for a Coordinator, Energy & Feedstocks to join our Energy and Raw Material team. This role is responsible for managing the commercial aspects of natural gas supply and analytics to support NOVA Chemicals' manufacturing sites in Geismar, LA and Connersville, IN, while also providing backup for Canadian operations. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong analytical skills and energy market insight to help optimize costs, support budgeting and forecasting, and drive continuous improvement in a collaborative environment.

 

You Will Use Your Expertise To:

  • Manage natural gas acquisition, balancing, confirmations and all related analytics to meet the gas requirements at NOVA’s manufacturing facilities in Geismar, LA and Connersville Indiana.  
  • Support gas acquisition for Joffre and Sarnia sites when required.
  • Develop annual business plan and monthly reforecasts for natural gas requirements.
  • Execute financial month-end activities related to natural gas acquisition.
  • Prepare and support internal reporting and presentations for the team.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly reporting driving insights to continually improve cost position.
  • Champion continuous improvement of existing processes and procedures​ and identify opportunities for cost reductions.
  • Responsible for understanding and communicating on regional gas dynamics, including pricing fundamentals and pipeline outages that could affect Eastern and Southern NOVA’s business to key internal stakeholders
  • Support NOVA’s quarterly SOX requirements by preparing natural gas obligations and deal summaries. ​
  • Execution of commercial agreements within authorized limits.​
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in project work where the Energy and Feedstock Group is involved.

 

What We Are Looking For:

  • University graduate with 8+ years of business experience and continued professional development OR 12+ years combination of post-secondary education and related experience with continued professional development
  • Related work experience with SAP
  • Solid business acumen, with the ability to understand the impact of their function on the bigger picture
  • Knowledge of the natural gas markets is preferred
  • Experience in gas control, marketing accounting, or energy procurement would be an asset
  • Proven analytical, interpretive and decision-making skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with both internal and external customers and ability to work effectively within a team
  • Ability to understand business models and financial implications of business decisions
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to be proactive and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Superior time management and strong organization skills with the ability to prioritize and address issues in multiple geographic locations
  • Ability to handle confidential material, accuracy and attention to detail is essential

Additional Information:

  • Relocation will be considered for this position
  • Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
  • This role requires up to 10% travel
  • Expected to participate in rotating on-call weekend coverage
  • The successful candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible to travel easily between Canada and the U.S.
