  • This position provides the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays each week, with the requirement to report to the primary NOVA Chemicals work location on Tuesdays through Thursdays. Employees can opt out of the hybrid schedule and will be expected to work Monday-Friday from the primary work location.

NOVA Chemicals’ Technical and Corporate Procurement (Indirect Procurement) organization is focused and resourced on three core competencies: Strategic Procurement, Procurement Operations, and Capital Projects.  We are looking for a dynamic, driven, agile, highly organized, detail-oriented, and strategic professional with experience in contracting and procurement processes and enablement to join our team as the Advisor, Technical Procurement Process and Performance to support delivering top quartile procurement performance via transformation initiative and disciplined execution of the procurement process. 

 

Reporting to the Director, Technical and Corporate Procurement, you will work with procurement specialists, business leaders, key stakeholders and the supply chain and procurement organization to support and enable NOVA Chemicals’ Technical and Corporate Procurement team to achieve its objectives through the robust processes, procedures, and performance metrics. This role will ultimately support NOVA Chemicals in building and maintaining a competitive advantage through the execution of NOVA’s strategic plan across Canada and the United States.

 

You Will Use Your Expertise To:

  • Manage contractor safety programs, ensuring compliance with safety and procurement procedures.
  • Participate as a member of the Contractor Safety Steering Team (CSST), contributing to training development, KPI reviews, contractor scoring calibration, audit protocol development, and meeting facilitation.
  • Engage with Regional Contractor Safety Committees to support training sessions, audit contractor safety plans, and implement safety improvement initiatives.
  • Manage and enhance ISNetworld contractor performance scoring and grading to align with company requirements.
  • Support the creation and implementation of Technical and Corporate Procurement team’s performance metrics and scorecards for various parts of the team.
  • In collaboration with Center of Excellence, support the implementation of sustainable procurement practices in Technical and Corporate Procurement, and champion the integration of sustainable procurement practices within the organization.
  • Collaborate with sourcing teams to identify sustainable suppliers and products. Monitor, report, and continuously improve the sustainability performance of the procurement function.
  • Facilitate and monitor the progress of Technical and Corporate Procurement’s continuous improvement roadmap and associated improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to drive transformation initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and measurable outcomes.
  • Act as a champion for change management and continuous improvements in Technical and Corporate Procurement.
  • Ensure Procurement governance compliance and coordination with Legal and other functional teams.
  • Provide input into commitment approvals process design to ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Respond to requests for information, benchmark analysis and consolidate market intelligence for the team.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop the reports for key business stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on industry trends in Technical and Corporate Procurement and emerging best practices in procurement and contractor safety management.
  • Ensure close collaboration with the sourcing teams, ensuring alignment and seamless support.

 

What We Are Looking For:

  • University graduate with 10+ years related experience and continued professional development with a minimum 5+ years of related procurement experience with a focus on procurement process and performance.
  • A degree in Business or Supply Chain Management would be considered assets.
  • Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation in Canada and Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) in the US (or equivalent international certification) would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of indirect Procurement activities within large organizations.
  • Excellent understanding of contracting and procurement best practices, and risk management.
  • Leadership abilities to influence stakeholders to enhance collaboration and best outcomes.
  • Experience with ISNetworld and Procure-to-Pay tools (e.g., SAP MM, Ariba, Icertis).
  • Experience in participating in transformational and sustainable initiatives
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to apply change management knowledge and expertise.
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Analytical and data-driven mindset for decision-making and generating recommendations. Experience with analytics and visualization tools and data analytics.

Additional Information:

  • Relocation will be considered to the nearest geographical NOVA Chemicals' location for this position
  • Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
  • Geismar Site Only:  The position will require a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC®) through the Transportation Security Administration.
