This position could be located in the following location(s): Centre for Performance Applications (Calgary, AB), Ontario (remote), United States (remote) 

• This position provides the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays each week, with the requirement to report to the primary NOVA Chemicals work location on Tuesdays through Thursdays. Employees can opt out of the hybrid schedule and will be expected to work Monday-Friday from the primary work location.

We are seeking a passionate and professional person to join the Application Development Team as an Application Development Specialist.

You Will Use Your Expertise To:

• Investigate market and application opportunities for Polyethylene (PE) and recycled PE outside of traditional packaging segments.
• Understand how customer needs, industry developments, societal trends and technological advancements will results in new opportunities for PE.
• Critically analyze data and draw conclusions and recommendations on projects and advises go/no-go decisions.
• Become an expert in the applications of PE and develop an understanding of the competition to PE  - other plastics - and their applications.
• Investigate emerging technologies like generative AI to modernize our way of working and provide a differentiated customer experience.

What We Are Looking For:

• University degree in the fields of Science, Engineering or Business Development with 10+ years of industry related experience and continued professional development (3 years market-facing industry related experience preferred) OR 14+ years combination of post-secondary education, industry related experience and continued professional development.
• Experience in plastics and competitive materials would be considered an asset.
• An entrepreneurial approach with a proven track record of ideation and ability to identify critical information required to justify ideas.

• A proactive self-starter; ability to work independently to identify, lead and drive projects to completion.
• Ability to influence internal and external stakeholders to gain support for projects.
• Excellent communication skills and foster collaborative relationships at all organizational levels to build and support a team environment.
• A positive and team-oriented attitude with a high attention to detail.
• A growth mindset who will be energized by in-role learning and development
• Promote NOVA technology at external conferences.

Additional Information:

• Relocation will be considered for this position
• Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
• This role requires up to 25% travel
• The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver’s license
