We are seeking a Corporate Finance Analyst to join our Financial Planning and Analysis team.  You will provide analysis support for fixed costs company wide, administer executive dashboards, and work as a conduit between finance and IT to deliver automated solutions to finance customers.  You will be a critical component of the FP&A team’s journey from data aggregators to data analyzers.

 

You Will Use Your Expertise To:

 

Financial Forecasts:

  • On a monthly basis, facilitate the fixed cost rolling forecast process, including working with leaders companywide to ensure spend outlooks are up to date
  • Provide analysis assistance on Actual Results vs. Planned / Forecasted Results
  • Prepare inputs to monthly rolling forecast review presentation for NOVA’s Executive Committee
  • Facilitate fixed cost challenge sessions by department to understand and validate outlooks

 

Annual Budget:

  • Work Company Wide to Facilitate the annual Zero-Based Budget Process for developing fixed costs outlooks for the next 5 years
  • Facilitate fixed cost challenge sessions by department to understand and validate outlooks
  • Assist with the preparation of the Budget Review Packages, including Board of Director Materials

 

 Dashboard / Automation Support

  • Provide financial analysis support to business teams around the organization as needed
  • Participate in ad-hoc analysis as requested by the Finance Leadership Team
  • Contribute to NOVA’s continuous improvement / digitalization efforts through the use of Power BI, dashboards, and forecasting/budgeting software
  • Work with business teams across the organization to understand their needs and facilitate with automation delivery team to deliver finance solutions that drive better business decisions.

 

What We Are Looking For:

  • University graduate with 5-7 years of related experience or 10+ years combination of post-secondary education and related experience
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) is preferred
  • Expertise in spreadsheet software, including PowerBI
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail as errors or omissions in forecasts may lead to incorrect decisions or a missed opportunity
  • In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounted Principles (GAAP)
  • Knowledge of financial analysis and valuation techniques
  • Excellent organization, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines with multiple priorities
  • Ability to balance conflicting or changing priorities.
  • Ability to apply skills and knowledge to changing issues and situations
  • Ability to interact with senior management who will often challenge the conclusions of analyses
  • Working knowledge of financial systems - BPC/SAP
  • OneStream experience is a plus.

Additional Information:

  • Development and maintenance of financial models requires working on the computer for long periods of time.
  • Relocation will NOT be considered for this position
  • Cross border/international moves involving immigration will NOT be considered for this role
  • This role requires up to 10% travel
  • The preferred location for this role is at the Pittsburgh Corporate office in Moon Township, PA  (USCC)  or NOVA Head Office (NHO) in Calgary, AB. Other NOVA Chemicals locations may be considered.
